Graeme Souness started football at a young age and was part of the local boy’s club North Merchiston. By 1972, he was part of North American Soccer League and played for Montreal Olympique. He was later sold to Middlesbrough in that year and got good opportunities to show his talent.

After many years, he joined Liverpool and played nearly seven seasons for the team. He managed to win four league cups and three European cups and five league championships during his tenure with the team as a midfielder. In 1984, he moved to Sampdoria and played few matches for the team.
