Sahal Abdul was born in Al Ain region of UAE in a Malayali Family that hails from Kerala. His parents belong to Payyanur village in Kannur region of Kerala. Sahal studied at the New Indian Model School in Al Ain. After that, he moved to his ancestral hometown Kannur to study Bachelor’s Degree from SN College.

He was part of the University football team and got good recognition for his style of playing football. He became part of the Under 21 side and later moved to the Kerala team to participate in the Santosh Trophy. His career took a big turn with his entry into Kerala Blasters in 2018. Sahal Abdul Samad started playing football when he was very young in UAE. He was part of the Al Ethihad Sports Academy during his school days and got professional training. He later moved to Kerala to pursue his graduation and became part of the University team. He got good recognition in this format and later got selected into the Kerala Under 21 team.
Sahal was able to participate in the Santosh Trophy after this selection in the Kerala team. This set the base for his career in Indian football. He was signed for the reserve team by Kerala Blasters team at this time. He later moved into the senior team and delivered good performance.
He got a big break after the team won the many tournaments. He wa even selected as the Emerging Player of the Season by ISL. He was also conferred with the Emerging player of the Year Award by AIFF.
