Yu Mengyu is a renowned table tennis player from Singapore. However, she was born in China and played for the country till 2006. After that, she joined the STTA Singapore Table Tennis Association and later became a citizen of Singapore. Yu Mengyu was born and brought up in China in the Liaoning region. As her mother was a national level table tennis player, she got good encouragement to take up the game from a young age. She initially started playing during her school days at the age of 5. She managed to reach the provincial level in China when she was in her high school.
During that time, she got an offer from Chen Yong who was the coach of Singapore TT association. As this opportunity allowed her to participate in International games and get better training in Singapore, she decided to move to that place along with her family. Yu Mengyu became a member of STTA when she was 17 years old.
Yu Mengyu has played in the Singles, Doubles and Mixed doubles category for Singapore at the International level. She has won medals in all the categories in her career and earned a good name for herself as a renowned sportsperson of the country. She is currently working as a coach for junior level players in the age group of 9 to 12 at the STTA.

Yu Mengyu initially started her career in China and played at the regional level during her high school years. After that, she joined the Singapore Table Tennis Association in the year 2006 and started participating in Asian Games and South East Asian Games in 2007. She won the Gold playing in the doubles and team category in 2007 at SEA Games.
In the year 2010, she participated in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and won the Gold Medal for her team. During the same time, she was also part of Asian Championship games and won the silver medal in the team category. She also won the silver at Asian Games in Guangzhou playing for her team.
