Billy Strings was introduced to bluegrass music since a young age by his stepfather. He learnt about legends like Ralph Stanley, David Grisman and Bill Monroe. Apart from that, he was also fond of rock and metal music and was inspired by legends like Johnny Winter, Black Sabbath and Def Leppard.
During his teenage days, Billy was part of many small rock bands in his hometown.
